What is going on with Westview-things that make you go hmmmm....

My home building here on RI, almost 28 years, Westview, was advertised just a few weeks ago and put out to a "Lottery" only for one bedroom and studio apts. The ad was in the Main St. Wire a few weeks ago. and in other publications, including the NY Daily News.

I know that the external waiting list is closed and the internal waiting list may be also.

We were told by RY Management-our Building's Management office, that a nefarious "They" don't want the one bedroom and studios that may be empty here. Who exactly is "They"?!!!

I find this super curious, I know lots of people who would love a one bedroom or a studio here.

I know of people in the building who want one bedrooms and studios and most likely from other RI Buildings.

Also the Lottery was welcoming Section 8.

I also find it really curious that after all the mos. the Case Westview had before the Judge in NYS Supreme Court- Housing Div. to fight our rent hike imposed on us on 10.1.09 was suddenly thrown out.

We had a strong case.

The WTI didn't explain much of this, didn't mention the "Lottery" to any of the tenants in the Building, I read it in the Main Street Wire a few weeks ago.

What is really going on with Westview- God only knows, the tenants certainly do not.

Stop all the Criticizing and Name calling!!!

To the last two posters,

This Island never had this before, these awful post.

We are not all the same person.

My name is Jean and I have live in Westview, where I have been since I came to this Island over 25 years.

To suggest that anybody go to a Shelter or the Projects is horrible.

Westview is certainly by no means "FREE".

Get facts and information straight before posting comments like that, I see as "Anonymous"-maybe you are the same person, then, how would anyone know?

Most likely, the NYC projects are full due to the great Economy here in NYC and to suggest people go to Rikers is beyond words....

This Community will be ruined forever if we don't ban together.

For intance, this AM, again the F train was out and everyone who is lucky to have a job these days had to crowd on the Tramway.

Well, the Tram is due to go out in March- 3/1/10-?

Got any ideas on how you or any of us will get on and off this Island?

Volunteer for a Group, voice your opionions to RIOC, the Resident Board Members, etc.

That would be alot more productive that making awful comments like those.

Kudos to the Creator of the Roosevelt Island Blogger

I want to give major Kudos to the creator of the Roosevelt Island Blogger.

This person does an extraordinary job at covering the multitude of things, issues, events, problems that are going on 24/7 on Roosevelt Island.

I am long term Resident of this Island and the Wire doesn't come close.

The Wire editions lately are news about nothing important.

I never see any news about the WIRE buildings, the problems with no new stores on Main Street, etc.

I don't see important letters to the Editor on the battles in Eastwood, now known as "Roosevelt Landings", Island House or Westview.

We have major issues going on here, including the impending Tram outage due to commence on 3/1/10- ?
